International Migrants Day

Throughout history, migration has been a courageous act to live a better life. All migrants are entitled to equal protection of all their human rights. We can all do something to protect these rights and make all migrants welcome.

War, conflict, the effects of climate change, insecurity and natural disasters are all common factors that lead people to migrating. 281 million people were international migrants in 2022 alone. With another 59 million people being displaced internally that same year. These are real people with real stories.

For many, many years there has been harmful misinformation spread about this incredibly marginalised and vulnerable group in society. It’s crucial that communities and those in positions of power work to combat these harmful misconceptions about migrants and displaced individuals.
