People from all walks of life need blood products

Some people need blood during a serious health event like cancer, or a car accident. Some people regularly need blood products just to stay alive.

Blood donations for these services rely on people just like you. James Harrison, pictured here, has saved the lives of 2.4 million babies by donating his rare blood type for over 60 years.

You can donate blood during the pandemic

You can still donate blood during the pandemic. Giving blood is classified as an essential service – there are no restrictions on leaving the house in order to donate blood.

Extra precautions are being taken to keep donation centres hygienic and safe. Coronavirus cannot be transmitted via blood.

Australia needs donors now more than ever
