A L’Arche community is composed of members with and without intellectual disability who choose to grow in friendship with each other as they live the mission of L’Arche. Communities bring together a diverse group of people from different social, cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds.
L’Arche, a French word for the Ark, seeks to create communities where people live a simple life of work, care, prayer and celebration.
Each Australian L’Arche community has of a number of households where people share daily life. Some community members live more independently in flats,others may continue to live in their family home or in alternative accommodation while participating in the life of the community.
