Members of Hawkesbury Environment Network (HEN) include Landcare and Bushcare groups, birdwatchers, canoeists, river users, ecologists, teachers, fauna and vegetation specialists, urban sustainability planners, bushwalkers, photographers, organic grower advocates, landowners, business people, and a whole lot of other individuals who are concerned for the future of this beautiful part of NSW.
This region of the greater Sydney area is under enormous pressure to provide more space for housing, more water for infrastructure, and greater road links between Sydney and the western regions. These pressures impact on the river system and aquatic habitat, wetland areas and migratory bird species, and on bushland, which contains the last remnants of many special and unique ecosystems.
