Harvey Ball, the artist who created the smiley face, decided to dedicate the first Friday of October each year to smiles and kind acts throughout the world.

The first World Smile Day was in 1999 and it’s been running ever since!

World Smile Day is a time for random acts of kindness that can bring a smile to the people in your life, and total strangers. You never know how much someone might need your smile!
