World Sexual Health Day

We can all play a part in preventing unintended pregnancies and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. By raising awareness and decreasing stigma we can improve wellbeing across our communities.

World Sexual Health Day is not only about the elimination of STDs and unplanned pregnancies, but also about pleasure and wellbeing. The theme for 2022 is “Let’s Talk Pleasure” and they aim to educate individuals about the role that sexual pleasure plays in overall sexual health and wellbeing.

Our sexual health is grounded in the quality, safety and respect of our relationships, both with others and ourselves. There are many factors that can make sexual intimacy of any kind confusing and complicated. Sexuality is a complicated and dynamic matter for most individuals and can be very confusing at times. It plays a key role in our sexual health and wellbeing.

Positive and healthy sexual experiences should be free of coercion, discrimination and violence. It should meet the needs of individuals involved and all boundaries should be constantly respected. An individual should feel that their sexual rights are respected, protected and fulfilled at all times. A persons sexual health has a big impact on their physical, emotional, mental and social wellbeing.
