World Homeless Day

The purpose of World Homeless Day is to draw attention to homeless people’s needs locally and provide opportunities for the community to get involved in responding to homelessness.

In Australia there are more than 116,000 individuals experiencing homelessness, with the majority being women and children.

People end up in this situation for a multitude of reasons. No matter how they have become homeless, individuals have a basic human right to safe shelter.
