National Op Shop Week

National Op Shop Week 2020 is running September 28th to October 4th!

We can all donate high quality goods, volunteer in a shop, or buy some new gear. Whichever way we help, we can all make a difference and give a hand. That’s what National Op Shop Week is all about!

Why are op shops so important? Three simple reasons!

1. A large number of community programs are funded by the income from charity op shops. These programs would struggle without the generosity of Australians who donate to their local op shops.

2. Op shops help many Australians find a bargain, and can help people who are having a hard time to save money on essentials.

3. Buying goods at your local op shop rather than buying them new is a great to reduce our impact on the environment. And donating good quality products to op shops keeps them from going to landfill!

“Giving clothes is a great way to help the community,” says Jon Dee, the Managing Director of DoSomethingNearYou and founder of National Op Shop Week. “We need the Australian public to dig deep into their wardrobes and donate good quality clothing directly to their nearest charity op shops.”

If you'd like to donate a large item, please call ahead to check that they can receive what you have to give. Op shops spend millions of dollars a year on rubbish removal so please don't give broken, dirty, or poor quality items.

Check them out and get involved!
