International Workers Memorial Day

This is the day to remember the workers who have died while at work. In mourning for them, we must remember how crucial workplace safety is and the importance of protecting our workers.

So if you’re working on the 28th of April, you can hold a minutes silence on your own or for those who have been died in their line of work, and remember to have conversations with your co-workers about health and safety practises at work. But if you have the day off and would like to pay your respects for those who have passed or to their families, please check their website for memorial events near you.

Of course for whatever reason it may be, if you’re unable to physically involve yourself in these events, you can take to social media! At some point during International Workers Memorial Day, you’re asked to put your tools down, may it be a chisel or paintbrush, and share your message via social media with the hashtags #ToolsDown and #IWMD to spread the message!

Visit the link to see how you can get involved in the workplace, come pay your respects at a memorial service (please remember to RSVP) or spread the message via social media platforms. You can read more about this cause and the work being done by the Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union by clicking on the website link! Remember to follow their social media for any updates regarding International Workers Memorial Day 2023 and news about events near you.

Remember, every death is preventable.

Check them out and get involved!
