Global Wind Day
Global Wind Day

Global Wind Day is a time to celebrate the powerful role that wind plays for clean energy and a brighter future. Wind currently powers 10% of Australia’s electricity, and we can all do our part to increase Australia’s renewable uptake. Wind continues to be Australia’s main source of clean energy, accounting for 35.9% of our country’s total clean energy use and 9.9% of Australia’s total energy use in 2020. As of October 2022, there are 94 functional wind farms around Australia with a total capacity of 9,234MW.
It’s crucial that Australia commits to funding and promoting renewable energy sources like wind power. Wind power is rapidly evolving sector that’s becoming increasingly cheaper, bigger, better and more efficient. The incredible possibilities it holds for our environment, economies and job market cannot be overlooked!
