Deaf History Month

Deaf History Month, observed from March 13 to April 15, is a time to celebrate and honour the rich heritage, contributions, and achievements of the Deaf community. During this period, we recognize the importance of preserving and promoting Deaf culture, sign languages, and the rights of Deaf individuals.

This is an opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the Deaf community and advocate for greater accessibility and inclusion. Through events, educational initiatives, and cultural activities, we can deepen our understanding and appreciation of Deaf history.

Join us in commemorating the achievements of the Deaf community and working towards a more inclusive society that values and respects the diversity of communication styles and experiences. Visit Deaf Australia’s website to see how you can support the Deaf community and for events you can get involved in to show your support!
