World Vision (Indigenous Australia)

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are recognised as having the longest living cultures on earth, but they face many challenges including widespread inequality, discrimination and cultural disconnection.

Without access to locally-run playgroups and support for parents, Indigenous children can fall behind in developmental milestones. World Vision partners with remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and employs local women who facilitate playgroups to support children and parents, conducted in both traditional language and English to increase “both-ways” learning. When you invest in a child’s early years, you invest in their future.

World Vision also leads programs for empowering Indigenous teenagers, reducing domestic violence, and strengthening local culture.
