World Day of Social Justice

Social Justice means creating communities that are more safe, fair, and supportive for all. Every member of our society deserves the same opportunities and to have their rights protected. You can take action to make this happen.

The theme in 2022 was “Achieving Social Justice through Formal Employment”. Over 60% of the world’s employed population, that’s 2 billion individuals, earn their income in the informal economy. These informal workers usually lack any social protection or employment related benefits. Because of these factors and others, informal workers are twice as likely to be poor in comparison to formal workers. Most individuals in the informal economy are there due to inadequate opportunities for them in the formal economy. It is essential that we continue to push the transition to formal employment, for the sake of our economy, workers safety and community wellbeing.

It’s crucial that our communities continue to strive for more inclusive and sustainable societies. By working together within communities we can bring incredibly valuable and needed change to our societies.
