Green Connect
Green Connect is a social enterprise who recover waste and grow fair food. They also train and employ former refugees and young people.
Last year Green Connect employed 114 former refugees and young people, recovered 1,462 tonnes of waste, and grew and distributed 7,268 kilograms of local, seasonal, chemical free food. Through this work they help create a fair and resilient food system, reduce waste and build a more empowered community in the Illawarra.
Buying from Green Connect is the best way to get involved. They grow and sell fruit, vegetables, herbs and free range meat to the public from their Fair Food farm, and also sell to cafes, restaurants, hotels and caterers. They consult to businesses, councils and event organisers, helping to minimise the amount of waste going to landfill, through their Zero Waste services.
They manage waste at events to ensure as much as possible is composted and recycled. They have reliable, hard-working staff available via labour hire for jobs in agriculture, waste management, labour, and more. They also welcome donations, and volunteers to help out at the farm or translate the native languages of refugees.
