Friends of the Great Victoria Desert Parks

The Great Victoria Desert (GVD) is the largest dune desert in Australia, covering 350,000 square kilometres. It straddles the South Australia / Western Australia border. It has amazing biodiversity – over 123 bird species have been recorded in the eastern GVD. It is one of twelve World Biosphere Reserves in Australia, identified by UNESCO as being highly valuable.

The Friends of the Great Victoria Desert Parks was formed in March 1994. Their members come from all walks of life, and share a passion for the bush and a keen interest in natural and cultural history.
