World Day for Safety and Health at Work

COVID19 has served as a reminder of how important health and safety precautions are. From protecting ourselves from contracting and spreading the virus, to general occupational safety risks. The goal of this awareness day is to proactively reduce the chance of workplace risks, accidents and the spreading of diseases.

Within workplaces, a strong occupational safety and health culture is integral to the wellbeing and comfort of employers and employees. Australian workplaces are continuing to improve the safety of workplaces with a 50% decrease in workplace fatalities. In 2020 there were 194 individuals who were fatally injured. The most common causes were vehicle collisions, impact by moving objects and falls from a height.

We have to protect our workers and ensure safe environments for them to work in. While Australia is improving and fatalities are going down, any workplace death or injury is unacceptable.
